The last such tutored tasting took place on Tuesday 28 June 2011 in the beautiful cellar complex at the Monarch wine restaurant in V Kolkovně 6, Prague 1 – Staré Město.

At this exceptional tasting the participants had the opportunity to sample a range of authentic Moravian wines from Vinařský dům Kopeček, a small family winery from the town of Dubňany in the Slovácko wine sub-region of southern Moravia. Among those present were several members of the Ladies of Wine (Dámy vína) Association, headed by actress Iva Janžurová. The selection of wines was made together with winemaker Zbyňek Kopeček, his wife Eva and daughter Kačenka, and they were presented by our First Lady of Wine, Helena Baker, who also happens to own a small wine cellar and vineyard in the the same cellar settlement of Pod dubňansků horů. The evening was further enlivened by the playing of the folk band “Ligniťan“ from Dubňany, featuring their virtuoso dulcimer player Zbyněk Kopeček Jr, who is also a graduate of the Valtice Wine School and vineyard manager in the family firm. For this occasion Monarch wine restaurant also prepared a special selection of finger food and an excellent goulash which made a perfect accompaniment to the chosen wines. Among those present were not only well-known personalities from the world of wine and journalism, but also leading Czech violinist and viola player Bohuslav Matoušek with his wife Jasněnka, and even a visitor all the way from Australia, who confirmed that these Moravian wines had no reason whatsoever to feel embarrassed in comparison with the rest of the world. Winemaker Zbyněk Kopeček, who presented the evening, created a very relaxed atmosphere with his unmistakeable Slovácko dialect and charming sense of humour, which kept all those present entertained.
