Romantic Alsace

The wine region of Alsace runs approximately 80 km along the German border, south from Strasbourg to Mulhouse, between the high Vosges mountains and the River Rhine. Surprisingly this is the driest wine area in France.

The region and its wine may seem Germanic in many ways, but both are thoroughly French in style. Unique in France is that wines are labelled according to grape variety.

Event dates: May 2012
Venue: in and around the town of Colmar and Strasbourg and the Alsace wine region, Route des Vins d'Alsace.

Picturesque villages with vineyards on the sunny slopes of the Vosges mountains - this is Alsace, where the vines enjoy the most favourable climatic conditions in all France. The local gastronomy also comes nearest to what a visitor from the Czech Republic might expect.
